Mariology

Mariology is an important subject in Theological Studies. It is important for the three departments of ICLA (Missiology, Spirituality and Consecrated Life). Mariology is, above all, Theology from the perspective of the woman-Mother of Jesus, the Son of God.

In this special course Fr. Cristo Rey Garcia Paredes, CMF will offer the students tools for ecumenical and interreligious dialogue in mission, for an interreligious spirituality and for a new understanding of Consecrated Life. The objective of the course is that, after this study the students may be able to integrate the Marian perspective to Mission, to Spirituality and to their own way of life as consecrated persons.

The course will be divided into three parts:

Biblical Mariology
- • Paul: The mysterious silence of the origins
- • Mark: “Who is my mother and who are my brothers and sisters?”
- • Matthew: Mary in the genesis of the new People
- • Luke and Acts: Mary, the first one graced by the Kingdom and the first discipline of Jesus
- • Fourth Gospel and Revelation: Mary, the woman of the new Covenant

Existential Mariology

- • Discipleship of Mary; and her following of Jesus
- • Virginity and celibacy: for the Kingdom in the context of a Family
- • Poor: among the poor
- • Servant and obedient: in Spirituality and Mission
